NEWPORT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S PARTNERSHIP
Working together to improve services for you!
What is Newport Children and Young People’s Partnership?
Newport Children and Young People’s Partnership is made up of all the main people and organisations who work with children and young people and provide services for you. We are committed to working together to make sure that you receive all the services that you have a right to – your “entitlements”.
This is our Vision:
Newport will be a City which values its young people and where each young person will have equal opportunity to access a wide range of appropriate services and high quality provision, regardless of gender, religion, ethnic origin, any disability or illness or any other factors which may disadvantage them.
So who are the Children and Young People’s Partnership?
It includes:
- All the schools and colleges in Newport, (including Coleg Gwent and University of Wales Newport )
- Newport Youth Service
- People within Newport City Council who provide sports programmes, leisure facilities, arts development, museums and libraries
- Careers Wales Gwent
- Youth organisations, such as Duke of Edinburgh’s award, Guides and Scouts
- People within Newport City Council who are there to help you if you need more particular support, for example, support for young people who have disabilities or are “looked after”
- People who provide services for young people who are having problems with housing or homelessness, including advice and information, support for you in your first tenancy, hostel accommodation and family mediation
- People who can help you stay healthy and happy: for example, people who provide support through the There 4 U drop-in sessions at the Info Shop, advice about your sexual health, Healthy Schools projects, advice about healthy eating and support for young people who have drug or alcohol problems
- The local police
- The South East Wales Race Equality Council
- People who work in your local communities throughout Newport and who put on a range of activities and services for young people
Listening to what you tell us
Members of the Partnership want to listen to what you have to tell us about the services we provide. To help with this, we support young people to run Newport Youth Council. If you live in Newport and are between the ages of 11 and 25, you can Have Your Say.
